Last week three-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green, made headlines for his Twitter rant and referenced the WNBA pay gap. For example, one of his Tweets read, “Who’s building up y’all platform? Who’s telling the individual stories of how great y’all are? Building the interest and transforming women’s basketball in犀利士 to a global game?”

Green would receive a lot of feedback from both media members, who have been covering the WNBA, and from current and former players in the league. Including five-time WNBA Allstar Angel McCoughtry, who shared with the Founder of Girls Talk Sports TV, Khristina Williams, that she has approached SpringHill Entertainment and Unanimous Media with a television program pitch, but was turned down.

“I have created a TV show about these kinds of issues. It is a dramatic comedy called ‘Fair Game. I have gone to Spring Hill Entertainment, [and] Sony, where Steph Curry’s people are. We got turned down,” said McCoughtry.

“Oh, we don’t want a story about the WNBA. We were trying to get our story out, so Draymond do your research before you tell us that we need to this and we need to do that. We have been doing it for years.

LeBron James and Maverick Carter own Springfield Entertainment and will be producing Space Jam 2. That will be making its debut later on this year, and the film will feature WNBA players Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercurys and Nneka Ogwumike. Meanwhile, Steph Curry, along with CEO Jeron Smith, owns Unanimous Media. Last year, I spoke with Smith about their Incubation partnership with Sony Studios and shared the project is a pathway for storytellers to get their stories told.

“I feel blessed to be in the position that I am in,” said Smith. “[I use] these resources to create pathways for other sto威而鋼 rytellers, executive producers, directors, and writers. I see more of myself as a conduit to bring two worlds together.”

McCoughtry recently joined Players TV as an investor and she’s also been named head of culture. Other NBA and WNBA players, who have also invested into the company includes Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Natasha Cloud, Aerial Powers, and A. J. Andrews.
