Lil Wayne Attempted To Reach Out To Grizzlies All-Star Ja Morant, But Had No Luck, Says Skip Bayless [Watch]

Ja Morant, the rising star of the Memphis Grizzlies, found himself in the midst of controversy as he awaited a likely suspension from the NBA. The reason behind the potential disciplinary action was a troubling incident where Morant flashed what appeared to be a gun on a social media livestream. This was not the first time such an incident had occurred, as it marked the second occurrence within a span of three months.

However, amidst the storm of criticism and uncertainty, an unexpected ally emerged to offer his support. Rapper Lil Wayne, known for his own troubled past and legal battles, stepped forward to extend a helping hand to the young basketball player. The rapper’s friend and Undisputed co-host, Skip Bayless, revealed on “The Skip Bayless Show” that Lil Wayne had reached out to him, seeking a connection with Morant.

Lil Wayne texted me. He said, ‘Hey, can you connect me with Ja? Because I could help him. I’ve been there. I’ve done all this. I wound up in prison on Riker’s Island. I know what happens. I know where you can go wrong and I know what’s right.’

I said, ‘I’ll try.’ I reached out to Ja; ‘Would you sit with Lil Wayne? Would you talk with Lil Wayne?’ Wayne would fly to Memphis in a heartbeat tonight. Wayne would private plane it and go right to Memphis if he thought he could save a career and a soul.

I got nothing back from Ja.”

Lil Wayne believed that his own life experiences, including serving eight months incarcerated in 2010 after pleading guilty to a weapons possession charge, could provide valuable insight and guidance to Morant. Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the potential impact it could have on Morant’s career and personal life, Lil Wayne hoped to offer a lifeline, drawing from his own mistakes and lessons learned.
