Jag has had an incredible year thus far, back in January he was featured on Sway in the Morning for a segment called “Friday Fire Cypher.”  In February he was a part of a Sports Center Cypher featuring a former Priority Records roster mates District, Albee Al, and Ras Kass during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.  Jag would follow the cypher up with a powerful single and video entitled “The Kapernick Effect” addressing police brutality and the continuous back and forth between white officers and unarmed young black men.

Jag and his team decided to release the video to “The Kapernick Effect” on the heels of the Sacramento Police Department gunning down 22-year old Stephon Clark in his own backyard by shooting him 20 times.  The police reported that they thought he was holding a gun, but instead it was only his cell phone.

Jag is getting ready to release his 2700 EP, which features his new single with Trey Songz called “Tap In.”  The single was premiered by Billboard.  Jag told Billboard that Trey Songz sent him a DM after the release of “The Kapernick Effect”

I recently spoke with Jag as well on behalf of The Rap Fest, where he shared that he knew what direction he  wanted to take the song “Tap In.” Prior to sending the single over to Trey to lay down his vocals.  The project will also feature other names such as Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, Honorable C Note, and Bizness Boi to name a few.  You can stream Jag’s new single featuring Trey Songz below.
