Entrepreneur And Author Alex Morton Shares How Getting Kicked Out of School Led To His Success

Matt Grybel

Alex Morton is a self-made multi-millionaire,  business momentum catalyst, and author. Even though he is one of the highest earning network marketers in the world, that was not always the case for the young entrepreneur.  Morton grew up like any normal kid, who attended and graduated from, your typical high school and then attend your average university.

One day, his world came crashing down when he heard a knock at the door. It turned out to be campus security and according to Morton, his jaw dropped. They were there to inform him that his time on campus had come to an end. After campus security delivered the message, Morton found himself with a bag of Taco Bell in his hand and in disbelief from the news that he wasn’t a student anymore.  Numerous questions begin to go through his mind Where would I go? What would I do? as he was too embarrassed to inform his family of what happened and Morton acknowledged that this was the lowest he had ever felt in his life.

Then a light went off in his head that only one person could get him out of the current situation he was in. Morton decided to take responsibility and ownership for what he had done and started making changes in his life. He would then take several years trying to figure out the “Secrets” to success.  Once he could start to differentiate between just living life and having more success than setbacks things started to click. After finally figuring it out he found his calling in life. He would then start traveling and sharing what he learned with the world earning over $10,000,000 teaching people how to take control of their own destinies.

Morton recently spoke with us at The Hype Magazine about his journey of hitting rock bottom and how he was able to turn his life around through difficult life lessons.

What part of the speech that you received as you were getting kicked of school has stuck with you after the conversation?

When I was asked to leave the WP CAREY school of business, when I was 18 years old, I remember my Economics professor saying to my face, “Son, based on your lack of knowledge on the basic economic fundamentals of our country, I’m advising you to highly consider dropping out of the business school. You’re just not cut out to make it in business.” That moment has stuck with me and will be a constant audio tape playing in my head on repeat forever. This is a perfect example of why you can never let someone’s opinion of you define you.

Can you talk about some of the steps you took after getting kicked out of business school?

When my economics professor asked me to leave the business school, I then thought to myself, “I know I can become successful and I don’t need his or anyone else’s approval.” I went back to my dorm room and began researching ways to make money while in college. One day, my mom called me and asked me to watch the show “Million Dollar Listing” on TV to see if I was interested in real estate. I watched one episode, saw young guys driving nice cars having lots of fun, & the next morning I took a taxi to the real estate school and applied for my license. I failed the real estate exam several times, eventually passed, & began my entrepreneurial journey.

You spent years looking for the “Secrets” to success. What are some of the things you been able to use in your favor?

Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. Success isn’t just for special people or people who are from a certain zip code. Success is for anybody who has a burning desire. In my career, I’ve seen all types of people win at very high levels. Over the last 9 years, while building my empire, I’ve used the power of imagination to create exactly what I want. We have the ability to build a picture in our mind of exactly what we want. That picture will move from your mind in the physical world when you live your life and operate in a certain way. When I was 21, I wrote down my goal to earn $1,000,000 before my 25th birthday.

Step one is WRITING DOWN YOUR GOALS in the present tense as if they’ve already happened and developed a burning desire for its achievement. Step two is finding someone (a mentor) who already has what you want, figuring out how they did it, & doing exactly what they tell you. Step three is to fall in love with the process and the journey of success. Understand it’s not going to happen overnight. Nobody is an overnight success. It all happens and comes together when preparation meets opportunity. I teach a system called T-F-A-R. This stands for Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, & Results. It’s the recipe for success.

How can these tactics be used in today’s climate of business?

Winning in business shouldn’t be too difficult, however, most people don’t know the laws of success. Most people don’t think and don’t understand what a goal is, which means there’s not much competition in the marketplace. If you do more than you’re asked, you’ll soon be paid for more than you do. Get a crystal-clear image of the life you desire in your mind – from the cars, homes, money, fulfillment, charity, relationships… everything. We have the ability to create because we were created by the creator with similar creative faculties. Write down the amount of money you want to earn by December 31, 2019. Write it down like this: “I AM SO HAPPY AND GRATEFUL NOW THAT I AM EARNING _________ a month by December 31, 2019.” This is called a goal card. See it everyday, read it everyday, speak it everyday. You’ll attract it.

During your journey, what has been the most helpful advice that you received as you built your empire?

The best advice I have received during my journey has been the idea that, “You don’t have to know how, you just have to know.” This idea changed my life. I didn’t know how I was going to make $1,000,000 at 24 or $10,000,000+ at 28. I didn’t know HOW I was going to buy my dream car cash. I didn’t know HOW I was going to live in a penthouse in Miami. I just KNEW I was going to. When you have 100% belief and confidence in who you are and where you’re going, the universe will conspire to help you. It’ll place the correct people, situations, and opportunities in your life to bring you closer to your goals.

Mark Cuban has been on record of working odd jobs such as bartending in Dallas and working at Dairy Queen. What were some of the various positions work before your big break?

I was in real estate hustling condos and homes in the Scottsdale area for roughly 18 months before getting invited to the meeting that would eventually change my life. One night, a buddy of mine called me and invited me to a business presentation. That business presentation was my introduction to a certain type of marketing that would take me to over 85 countries, earn millions of dollars and impact people around the world. Dream Big Dreams!
