It has been almost three years see the passing of Microsoft Co-Founder Paul Allen passed away. The cause of death, according to his death certificate, is septic shock and immunosuppression, according to the Inquisitr’s Trisha Faulkner.
Three weeks before his death, Allen took to Twitter to announce that his non-Hodgkin lymphoma had returned after nine years.
“A lot has happened in medicine since I overcame this disease in 2009,” Allen wrote. “My doctors are optimistic that I will see good results from the latest therapies, as am I. I will continue to stay involved with Vulcan, the Allen Institutes, the Seahawks and Trail Blazers, as I have in the past. I have confidence in the leadership teams to manage their ongoing operations during my treatment. I am very grateful for the support I’ve received from my family and friends. And I’ve appreciated the support of everyone on the teams and in the broader community in the past, and count on that support now as I fight this challenge. Go Seahawks! Go Blazers!”
Earlier this week, Damon Stoudamire, who played for Paul Allen’s Tail Blazers from 1997-05 was asked his relationship with Allen.
“Paul was real quiet, but I tell you when he opened up we had a party on his yacht one time. So, we were finally able to see Paul for the man that he is and let himself go. He was a really good man,” said Stoudamire.
“One of the things that I appreciate about Paul were two things, and I love going up to his house when we go play Seattle. We would practice at his house; that is when he let us pick his brain a lot. The other thing was Paul was good to minorities. Not many people would notice, but the first two rows where the owners sit in the former Rose Garden, now the Moda Center, when Paul was still living and are at games, the first two rows on each side. He would fly those people up from Seattle every game, and at least half of them were minorities. One time I was talking to them, and they were like, Paul looks out. He wanted to be successful, which he was, and wanted to be a great person. Our relationship was a great one.”
Former Seattle Seahawks executive Randy Mueller was recently interviewed by OregonLive.com and asked what was it like working with the late Paul Allen.
“It was fun to be part of their set-up,” Mueller said of working for the late Seahawks owner Allen. “They really let us run the football side of it. He would ask hard questions. He wouldn’t tell you what to say, but it just better be how you say it in the end. It holds you accountable.
“Paul was a good owner, a really good owner.”
