Mark Cuban Says This Former Celtic’s Pre-Game Routine Was The Best

Ray Allen is one of the most lethal marksmen in NBA history. The Hall of Farmer was recently inducted in 2018  along with Grant Hill, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Tina Thompson, and Katie Smith. At the beginning of his career, Allen was known for his ability to live above the rim, but he was always a threat from behind the arc.

Allen is currently the NBA’s all-time three-point leader with 2,973, but Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is in hot pursuit with 2,285 and is already being labeled the greatest shooter of all-time. As for Allen, he played 19 seasons in the NBA and was a 10-time All-Star. The Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Allen with the 5th pick in the 1996 draft, but was traded along with Andrew Lang to Milwaukee Bucks exchange for the draft rights to 4th overall pick Stephon Marbury. During his debut, Allen scored 13 points in 28 minutes for the Bucks as they beat the Philadelphia 76ers and fellow rookie Allen Iverson.

Ray Allen would play for four different teams, Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle Supersonics, Miami Heat, and the Boston Celtics as a member of the Boston Celtics Allen won a championship alongside Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo under the leadership of Doc Rivers, who played for the Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks during his playing days. Five years later, after rejecting a two year deal worth $12 million with the Celtics, to join the Miami Heat on a three year deal with $3 million a season. During his stint with the Heat, Allen won his second ring after hitting a series-saving shoot in game six of the NBA Finals against San Antonio forcing a game seven where the Heat went on to win game seven and won their second championship in three years. Allen would win his two championships alongside LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.

Before every game, Allen was one of the first players on the court to get shots up before tip-off. Someone that always admired Allen’s work ethic even though he was an opposing owner throughout Allen’s career is Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban. He has had a front-row seat to watch Allen ever since he bought the Mavericks in January of 2000.

I recently, Cuban share with me that Ray Allen had the best pre-game ritual in the NBA.

“Ray Allen used to have the best. He used to be out here even before I came out here, and was like bam, bam, bam, bam every time and was like you want to shoot for money?  I was like I got rich by not being stupid Ray,“  said Cuban.

That is right; If you are lucky enough to get into the American Airlines Center before the game, you will see Cuban getting shots up before the majority of Mavericks home games.

Allen would average 18.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game over his 19-year career.

What do you think?
