Former Charger Sees A Young Spunky Version Of Philip Rivers In Baker Mayfield

Buford Interviewed several celebrities including, Pete Rose, Mike Tyson, Emmitt Smith, Terrell Davis, and former Chargers defensive tackle and current NFL Network Analyst Akbar Gbaja-Biamila.  Biamila was asked a variety of questions during the interview if he saw some comparison with his teammate "People are forgetting about the Oakland Raiders not because they are on Hard Knocks, but if you look at the collection of talent that they have on that team. I do believe the Oakland Raiders are going to go further than most people think. They are going to go from last to first. You watch, remember I said it before anyone got on the hype train." "The Cleveland Browns are going to be a force to be reckoned with, but I think there are a lot of egos to manage there. Can Freddie Kitchens manage all those egos?  I mean Kareem Hunt got his, OBJ has his, Landry has his, you follow me?  There are a lot of things going on there and did I mentioned Baker Mayfield's ego?" Biamila played with Quarterbacks Rich Gannon and Phil Rivers during his time with the Raiders and the Chargers in the mid-2000s. Rich Gannon career completion rate was 60.2 % and Philip Rivers' career completion rate is at 64.5%. Buford asked Biamila Mayfield's accuracy in comparison to  Rivers.

"I see a young spunky fiery guy like a Philip Rivers with Baker Mayfield, but I have to see. This is his first year and defensive coordinators have a lot of film on him. So, they are going to make the adjustments."

Rivers has been very accurate his whole career in the NFL including completing 28-of-29 passes for 259 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals on November 25, 2018.

“I didn’t know it was 25 in a row,” Rivers said. “I knew we hadn’t missed. I did know that we hadn’t missed, but I didn’t know where it was. I did know that that first miss was that little, short-throw to (running back Austin) Ekeler, of all things. It was an efficient day, to say the least.

"There were so many guys today who were making catches; the guys protecting. A lot goes into completing the ball, more than just me throwing it. It was a fun day, to say the least.”

As for Baker Mayfield threw for 3725 years, 27 TDs, 14 interceptions, and completing 63.8 of his passes during his rookie season as a Cleveland Brown.
