Russell Wilson’s “Moon Ball” is Equivalent To A Steph Curry Three, Says Analyst

The Seattle Seahawks lead the Arizona Cardinals 27-17 as Russell Wilson has thrown for 250 yards, and two touchdowns. Both of Wilson’s touchdowns have gone to Tyler Lockett and he would finish the half with 133 yards on eight receptions.

Lockett caught his second touchdown over lockdown cornerback Patrick Peterson, described as a ‘Moonball’ by NBC’s football analyst, Cris Collinsworth.

“He [Russell Wilson] is so good throwing these deep balls. The moon ball came out of orbit on that one and just drops in the bucket it is remarkable. Lockett, now has two spectacular deep ball catches. You are trying to cover DK Metcalf and Chris this ball drops in right over the top,” said Collinsworth.

“Steph Curry three pointer, the high arching ball and as a defender what do you do. What can you do with that there is just no room to make the play? The arch is going to bring it down in a spot that only Tyler Lockett can make the play.”

Michele Tafoya talked to Lockett about his proficiency as a deep ball receiver.

“Catching punts helped because you are having to track the ball, and I also practice before and after practice. Focusing on what I have to do to come down with that deep ball, and how to position myself against longer corners,” Lockett said via Tafoya.

As for Wilson deep throws, “He knows actually when, how, and where to put it.”

When Wilson and Lockett link up they have connected for 6 touchdowns and no interceptions, according to AL Michaels of NBC Sports. They have also had 38 completions on 44 pass attempts this season.
