Earlier this month, Carmelo Anthony made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith to clear his name, and to plead his case to join an NBA roster next season.

“I’m in the gym every single day,” Anthony said. He also noted that “silence is not my surrender” and that he has been quiet until now because he felt like he needed to step away from the game to “reevaluate myself, reevaluate my career, reevaluate my life.”

Carmelo has not played in the NBA, since November of 11th of 2018.  He was a member of the Houston Rockets against his former team the Oklahoma City Thunder. In early January, the Rockets would decide to ship Anthony to the Chicago Bulls, who would release him sometime later.

Over the weekend, former Rocket Royce White was interviewed by Fanatics View, in Dallas Texas. White was asked a variety of different questions, including one of is Carmelo Anthony being blackballed by the NBA? White would immediately reply, Melo is absolutely being blackballed!

“He is one of the realists in it. He is one of those that isn’t like me, he doesn’t talk brash and straight forward like that, but has those morals and principals, and he has given the game for them not to allow him to play, for them to culturally a decision or an agreement that he is not good enough anymore.

All of us here that played the game at the highest level know how good Melo is and we know that there is no way, that the Lakers would go out and sign Jared Dudley and not sign Carmelo Anthony and another question is why a guy like Lebron is walking around like is the face and the voice of the players.”

How is he letting his Banana Boat Brother hang out there in the wings, and they go and sign Jared Dudley and not Carmelo?  If anybody watching, this thinks Jared Dudley can hold Carmelo’s jockey strap, I’ll slap them.  That’s how I’m coming though!

This is not the first time a former player has come out and said Melo is being blackballed. Dwyane Wade tweeted out that “They are trying to make Melo the fall guy” and Lebron James tweeted out hashtag Factz.

Stephen Jackson would come to Melo defense on Instagram and told the public not to believe the narrative, and the NBA higher-ups are trying to push out the league.

“Let me say this…. Me, A.I., and a couple [of ] other players. They trying to blackball Melo. Why? The season just starting, why they coming up and saying ‘your time with the team is almost up,’ and the season’s just starting?  [Do] You see what I’m saying? They trying to blackball Melo and push him out of the league and make sure it looks like he can’t play no more, or make sure it looks like every team he goes to he’s a problem or he’s a cancer on the team in the locker room. Which is so far from being true.

I can name 50 people Melo better than right now in the NBA. I can name 50 people he’s a better teammate than. So don’t believe this narrative they’re trying to put out there that Melo is just a cancer and he can’t play and he just makes every team bad. That’s BS.”

Former Knicks center Ethan Thomas wrote an Op-Ed for Syracuse.com and suggested, “It’s almost as if Carmelo has been blackballed.”

Before Melo was traded and then later released by the Bulls, he averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in ten games with the Rockets.
