Seahawks News: Matt Hasselbeck Is Interested In Ownership In All Seattle Based Professional Teams

Seattle Times

Matt Hasselbeck began his tenure with the Seattle Seahawks back in 2001.  He would spend nine seasons in the Emerald City as the man under center even helped lead the franchise to its first Superbowl in 2005.  Unfortunately, for Hasselbeck and the Seahawks, they came up a little short against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL in Detriot.

Hasselbeck would depart from Seattle after the 2010 season and would sign a multi-year deal with the Tennessee Titans first reported by ESPN ’s football Insider Adam Schefter. The Titans brought him in to help mentor, former  8th pick 2010 draft, Jake Locker.

Hasselbeck would spend two seasons in a Titans uniform before being released. The reason being that he decided not to take a pay cut.   Per NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport Hasselbeck would sign a two year deal with the Colts worth 8 million. He would earn $5 million in the first year and $3 million in the second. After the 2015 season, Hasselbeck joined his brother Tim at ESPN, as an NFL Analyst for Monday Night Countdown.

I recently spoke to the former quarterback about possibly owning a piece of the Seattle Supersonics when they return to the NBA.

“Hundred percent! I would be interested in purchasing a piece of the Sonics, Sounders, Seahawks, The Mariners, the NHL team that is coming to Seattle, and don’t forget the Storm,“ Hasselbeck told me.
He is not the only former player possibly looking to purchase a piece of his former team. His former teammate  Kam Chancellor a couple of weeks expressed interest via Twitter.

Kam Chancellor is currently under a three year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth $36 million and 20 million of it is guaranteed. The future Hall of Famer’s career came to an abrupt end after suffering a neck injury against the Arizona Cardinals in 2017.

Paul Allen’s sister Jody owns the Seahawks after he passed away in 2018, and she has not made any notations that the team is for sale.  We will have to see what may come of this moving forward.
